Centrus Establishes Advisory Board of Distinguished National Security and Business Leaders

BETHESDA, Md. – Five distinguished Americans have agreed to serve on the advisory board of Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE MKT: LEU), the company announced today. Members of the board have advised U.S. presidents of both parties, served at the highest levels of government and industry, and have deep subject-matter expertise. The diverse membership reflects a broad consensus about the importance of maintaining U.S. leadership in uranium enrichment and nuclear power.

Poneman, Centrus president and chief executive officer. “They have a unique understanding of this marketplace as well as the important stakes for our national security and energy security.”

The board will advise senior management in its efforts to restore America’s domestic uranium enrichment capability for national security purposes and to expand the company’s role as trusted supplier of enriched uranium fuel for nuclear reactors in the United States and around the world. Members of the board include the following individuals:

• Tom Donilon – Partner and Vice Chair, O’Melveny & Myers; Former U.S. National Security Advisor

In his role as partner and vice chair of O’Melveny & Myers, LLP, former U.S. National Security Advisor Tom Donilon counsels senior business executives, entrepreneurs, and company boards as they develop strategies to address their highest level business, legal, and policy issues in the United States and abroad. A leading national security expert with an extensive global network, he has deep experience in global strategy, cybersecurity, financial services, and corporate governance. He previously served in the administration of President Barack Obama, most recently as National Security Advisor. In that capacity, Mr. Donilon was responsible for the coordination and integration of the administration’s foreign policy, intelligence, and military efforts. Mr. Donilon has worked closely with and advised three U.S. Presidents since his first position in the White House in 1977. He and O’Melveny & Myers serve as counsel to the Company.

• Susan Eisenhower – CEO and Chairman of The Eisenhower Group

Susan Eisenhower is the CEO and Chairman of The Eisenhower Group, Inc. (EGI). For more than 30 years, EGI has provided strategic counsel on business development, public affairs and communications projects to Fortune 500 companies in the United States and abroad. Over the years, Ms. Eisenhower has served as a member of three blue ribbon commissions for the Department of Energy for three different secretaries: The Baker-Cutler Commission on U.S. Funded Non-Proliferation Programs in Russia; The Sununu-Meserve Commission on Nuclear Energy; and the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future, which released its findings on a comprehensive program for the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle in the winter of 2012. She was also appointed to the National Academy of Sciences Standing Committee on International Security and Arms Control, where she served eight years. She is currently a member of MIT’s Energy Initiative Advisory Board.

• John Hamre – President and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense

John Hamre has served as president and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) since January 2000. Before joining CSIS, he served for nearly three years as the 26th U.S. deputy secretary of defense. Prior to holding that post, he was the under secretary of defense (comptroller) from 1993 to 1997. As comptroller, Dr. Hamre was the principal assistant to the secretary of defense for the preparation, presentation, and execution of the defense budget and management improvement programs. In 2007, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates appointed Dr. Hamre to serve as chairman of the Defense Policy Board. Before serving in the Department of Defense, Dr. Hamre worked for 10 years as a professional staff member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. During that time, he was primarily responsible for the oversight and evaluation of procurement, research, and development programs, defense budget issues, and relations with the Senate Appropriations Committee.

• Franklin C. Miller – Principal at The Scowcroft Group; Former Special Assistant to President George W. Bush

As a principal at The Scowcroft Group, Franklin C. Miller provides clients both strategic and tactical advice on defense, national security, foreign affairs, and intelligence policy. Mr. Miller is an internationally-recognized expert on nonproliferation, defense, nuclear energy and policy issues, and export control. He served for thirty-one years in the U.S. government, including twenty-two years in the Department of Defense—serving under seven Secretaries in a series of progressively senior positions—and four years as a Special Assistant to President George W. Bush and as Senior Director for Defense Policy and Arms Control on the National Security Council staff. Following his retirement from government in 2005, Mr. Miller joined The Cohen Group for five years, first as a Vice President and later as a Senior Counselor.

• Michael Wallace – Former Vice Chairman and COO of Constellation Energy

Michael Wallace retired in 2011 as vice chairman and COO of Constellation Energy and chairman of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, which includes nuclear generation of 3,869 megawatts, three sites, and five units in two states. Previously, Mr. Wallace co-founded Barrington Energy Partners, LLC, a strategic consulting firm specializing in energy industry transactions and advisory services. Before joining Barrington Energy, Mr. Wallace had more than 25 years of senior executive and utility operations experience, including overseeing operations of 12 nuclear generating units as senior vice president and chief nuclear officer for Unicom/ComEd of Illinois. Mr. Wallace is deeply engaged as an advisor to governments and industry on matters of nuclear energy security, including service on the National Infrastructure Council (NIAC) – which advises the President on homeland security matters – as well as the Cyber security Subcommittee of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) and the Steering Committee of the Electricity Sub-Sector Coordinating Council (ESCC). Mr. Wallace is a former naval officer, having served in the U.S. Navy nuclear submarine force.
